Igang Cave
A cave is a natural underground space large enough for a human to enter. Some gest that the term cave should only apply to natural cavities some part of which is in total darkness; however, in popular usage, the term includes smaller spaces like sea caves, rock shelters, and grottos. One of the tourist attraction in maayon was the limestone cave(Igang Cave )it is located at Brgy. Tapulang maayon capiz around 7 kms away from the poblacion or 15 to 20 minutes ride by cars or jeepney. It has several entrances at different levels which lead to a central chamber, and fan out again to different passages. Big stairlike structures connect upper portions to the central chamber which is well lighted and well ventilated. A gradually sloping passage, 7 feet wide and a foot high takes one to a lower chamber, which, unlike the upper and central chambers, is dark. The floor here is covered with guano, which towns-people use as fertilizer. The Igang Cave is laced with stalactites and stalagmites of various sizes.
Hil’o Hil’o Festival
(Last Saturday of February)
Maayon Municipal and Religious Fiesta known as Hil- o Hil-o Festival which connnotes reciprocity that demonstrates interdependence among our people. It expresses itself in many ways. It could simply be helping one another to make a heavy work for one be lighter. It can be rendering of services or giving material donations for a relative, a friend or a neighbour who is holding a very important affair in the family. This Festival is celebrated annually every 3rd week of February for three (3) days starting Thursday.
